A Quest (or a Side Quest) is a special task that the party can undertake. Upon entering a town, one can check the available quests by clicking the button with an exclamation point (that is, the top button, above Shop, Pet, and Inn). The reward for the quest includes gold and a special item. The Quest reward is only received by the player once; although some Wanted (X) bosses may respawn and can be killed again. On the World Map screen, the player's selected Quest is denoted by the blue exclamation point at the location; if the player has not accepted a quest yet, all Towns with available quests will have the blue exclamation point.
Types[]
Quests are divided up into three types: Wanted, Defense, and Wanted X. Two variants, Extra and Thief, is added in the Steam Version.

Wanted[]
Wanted quests involve traveling to a location (sometimes new, sometimes old), and looking for a certain boss monster. Once the boss is defeated, the quest ends, and the quest rewards are lumped in with the monster drops.
Defense[]
Main Article: Defense Minigame
Defense quests involve traveling to a special location without monsters. Upon arriving, the screen is split into left and right halves. The left half contains a rectangular grid of colored shapes. The right half contains a boss at the top of the screen, and D at the bottom of the screen. The boss will send monsters down the screen toward D. Each time you match 3 symbols on the screen, D will deal damage to the monsters and the boss. The object of the minigame is to defeat the boss before a monster reaches D.
Wanted X[]
Wanted X quests are unlocked after the main story is completed. They are similar to Wanted quests, but tougher and with bigger rewards.
Extra[]
Extra quests are added in the Steam version of Crystal Story II. These quests didn't fit the above categories and were simply added to further test the team's strength.
Thief[]
Exclusive to Steam version, Thief quests revolve around Lina's former ally, Koohii who was stealing items from various towns in order to power up a mysterious thing she stole.
